In addition to serving customers through its café, our kitchen offers lunch, dinner, and services for various functions, including wedding receptions. Our Terrey Hills venue is looking for a full-time qualified Restaurant manager.

This opportunity is a full-time position (38 hours per week).
Position Responsibilities and Tasks:
* Ensure the smooth day-to-day running of Berkelo’s café, managing both front-of-house and kitchen activities to provide an excellent customer experience while adhering to operational standards.
* Work closely with the culinary team to develop and refine menus, focusing on Berkelo’s commitment to seasonal, organic and locally sourced ingredients. Regularly update offerings based on customer preferences and ingredient availability.
* Manage the hiring process for café staff, including front-of-house personnel, baristas and kitchen support. Provide thorough training on service standards, sustainability goals and product offerings. Prepare staff rosters to ensure adequate coverage during peak hours and special events.
* Oversee the procurement of all supplies, from fresh organic produce to café essentials. Maintain optimal inventory levels to avoid shortages or overstocking, while ensuring products align with the restaurant’s sustainable practices and quality standards.
* Regularly review and enforce health, safety and hygiene protocols throughout the restaurant and catering operations, ensuring compliance with local regulations. Conduct routine inspections to maintain a clean and safe environment for both staff and customers.
* Act as the point of contact for customer inquiries, feedback and complaints, addressing issues promptly and professionally. Build relationships with regular customers, enhancing their dining experience and fostering loyalty.
* Manage the restaurant’s budget, overseeing expenditures, cost controls and financial reporting. Regularly review financial performance and implement strategies to boost profitability, without compromising on quality or sustainability.
* Lead the planning and execution of services for special events, such as functions and wedding receptions. Work with the culinary team to design bespoke menus and ensure that catering orders are delivered with precision, on time and with the same quality as in-house services.
* Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote the catering services offered. This includes social media campaigns, partnerships with local businesses and promotions that highlight the restaurant’s artisanal, organic and eco-friendly approach.
* Uphold Berkelo’s commitment to sustainability by ensuring the restaurant operates in an eco-conscious manner. This includes reducing waste, using energy-efficient equipment and promoting environmentally friendly practices among staff and customers.
Qualifications and Skills:
* Industry related Qualifications
* 2+ years working in hospitality management positions
* Experience in both café and bar/restaurant environments preferred
* Strong and effective leadership skills; the ability to support, motivate, effectively manage and communicate with team members while maintaining a hands-on approach
* Proven financial and Excellent time management skills
* Strong administrative skills and POS system experience
* Strong work ethic and reliability.
Salary:
The role offers a remuneration package ranging from $70,000 - $80,000, plus superannuation for a 38-hour work week.
