Assistant Venue Manager

The South Eastern Hotel seeks a driven and dynamic Assistant Venue Manager to work alongside our Venue Manager, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations, delivering exceptional customer service, and driving continuous improvement across all departments.
The South Eastern Hotel boasts a large front bar, a family-friendly bistro, a busy gaming room, and a bottleshop. A typical dinner service can involve serving 200+ meals and keeping the punters happy at the bar. With a busy event and fundraising schedule, there's never a dull moment at the South Eastern!
Key Responsibilities:
* Support and collaborate with the Venue Manager to ensure effective hotel operations management.
* Lead your department, overseeing performance, service standards, and continuous process improvement.
* Assist in preparing and achieving the hotel’s operating budget, sales targets, and CAPEX projects.
* Ensure compliance with all policies, procedures, and legislative requirements, including liquor licensing and WHS standards.
* Handle guest inquiries and complaints, ensuring prompt resolution to enhance customer satisfaction.
* Support the recruitment, induction, and performance management, fostering a positive and engaged team culture.
* Coordinate and oversee staff training, development, and growth opportunities, encouraging professional development.
* Plan and execute promotional activities, events, and functions to drive revenue and customer engagement.
* Ensure all property, plant, and equipment are maintained to the highest standard, addressing issues with the Venue Manager.
* Promote positive community engagement and uphold Matthews Hospitality’s reputation through excellent customer and supplier relations.
* Oversee financial targets, ensuring budgets are met and surpassed through effective service, people, and product management.
What We’re Looking For:
* Proven experience in hospitality management with a strong focus on customer service and elevating food & beverage operations.
* Ability to lead, mentor, and inspire teams, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
* Strong financial acumen, with experience in budgeting, cost control, and achieving revenue targets.
* Knowledge of WHS and liquor licensing laws, ensuring compliance in all areas of venue operations.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to handle customer and employee concerns professionally.
