Under the direction of the Head Chef, the role is tasked to ensure exceptional food quality and consistency across all levels of the operation. This is a hands-on role requiring presence and influence throughout the kitchens. The role also demands the skills necessary to assist in coordinating all the day-to-day activities required to set up and operate a successful kitchen.
Scope of the role:
1. Effective and efficient running of the kitchen in line with company standards.
2. Assist in the creation and implementation of interesting and popular menu ideas.
3. Assist in creating and maintaining policies and procedures.
4. Responsible, with the Head Chef, for the consistent delivery of high-quality meals.
5. Assist in the management of food cost and food wastage.
6. Assist in conducting monthly food stocktakes accurately.
7. Ensure food safety and OH&S compliance is followed at all times.
8. Ensure kitchen equipment is maintained in good working order and is cleaned regularly according to manufacturer's standards.
Skills & experience:
1. Tertiary qualifications in Commercial Cookery or equivalent and/or significant experience in a similar role with a commitment to ongoing professional development.
2. Rostered 38hrs and occasional O/T of up to 3-4hrs per week (no 45hr+ hour weeks in this role).
3. 5 weeks of annual leave. We like to promote work-life balance!
4. Chef uniform provided and fully laundered.
5. Free onsite parking and a 5-minute walk from Katoomba train station.
6. Salary offered: $70-80K p.a. plus 11.5% Superannuation and annual leave loading.
