From take-off to landing, Thales offers the most complete range of solutions to provide dynamic Air Traffic Services to support today's growing domestic and international travel requirements. Utilising this knowledge and experience Thales Australia will deliver a harmonised Civil/Military Air Traffic Management System (OneSKY) in Australia to Airservices Australia and Defence.

Your role:
The Engineering Project Manager – Bids is considered a business-critical position and is responsible for the management of all of the (research), design, development and/or integration activity and engineering activity estimation within the bid.
Part of your responsibility will be to coordinate with a multi-skilled team of system, safety, V&V, software, software/system integrators as well as hardware and deployment engineers to provide on time delivery of solution and cost estimate for systems and/or sub-systems of products, or for Turnkey or ATC projects, across multiple platforms.
You will also provide guidance/assistance as required to the technical teams in regard to technical matters in support of the required architecture / design to ensure effectiveness whilst meeting customer requirements
This is a role where you will need to provide strong leadership, direction as well as support to the wider team.
Some responsibilities include:
11. Managing of all of the engineering design, development and integration activity within the bid, ensuring all key commitments are met (Scope, Cost, Quality, Schedule, Risk)
12. Provide direction, expert advice, mentoring, and workflow management (including task prioritisation and resource coordination) in support of achieving bid objectives and milestones
13. Lead a multi-skilled team of engineers to deliver engineering services and support across multiple platforms, aligning team capability to meet customer expectations
14. Provide guidance to technical teams with regard to Design matters aligned to the agreed architecture, to ensure effectiveness whilst meeting customer requirements
15. Plan & Organise the delegation of Work Packages to best achieve the completion of the deliverables outlined in the Work Breakdown Structure
On day one you’ll bring:
16. A tertiary qualification in Engineering, Computer Science, IT or other relevant qualification
17. Solid experience of managing the development of real time and distributed systems in Rail, Traffic, Marine, Aviation or other safety critical discipline (Air Traffic Management ideal but not mandatory)
18. Proven experience and desire for working within the Bids lifecycle
19. Project Management experience with relevant qualifications
20. Experience of leading multi-skilled engineering teams within a matrix environment
21. Experience in total life cycle of complex software development, including processes and responsibilities at each stage in the cycle
22. In depth understanding of Systems Engineering processes and Functional Baseline Management
23. Understanding of Earned Value Management, Work Package Control and reporting, with exposure to scheduling tools (MS Project, Primavera etc.)
24. Financial / budgetary management of engineering work packages or tasks
25. Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders across a complex environment.
