First Languages Australia (FLA) is the national peak body dedicated to strengthening all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander languages. We connect language communities across the country and empower them with resources, skills, and knowledge to preserve and revive their languages. ABOUT THE ROLE
FLA are seeking a highly organised and motivated Program Coordinator to implement and oversee the Priority Languages Support Project and Young Champions Program. This role involves working with community groups, managing small funding initiatives, and mentoring young people in the language space. If you’re passionate about supporting community-led projects and have strong project management skills.
As the Program Coordinator, you will:
1. Oversee the end to end coordination of the Priority Languages Support Project and Young Champions program including advertising Expressions of Interests (EOI), discuss the application process, and prepare summaries or reports.
2. Prepare project budgets and monitor performance against the budget.
3. Writing language plans and completing service agreement documents.
4. Provide regular updates to management on project developments and ensure the language programs are supported and on track.
5. Coordinate the 'Young Champions' program, mentor young people in the language sector, organising online sessions, and facilitating youth forums.
6. Arrange attendance for participants at state or national events and coordinate facilitators for project activities.
ABOUT YOU
You have an exciting history of working in an administrative or project coordination focused role. You possess highly developed organisational and project management skills to manage multiple tasks, balance resources, and prioritise competing demands.
Our successful candidate will have:
1. Experience working with, and engaging, urban, regional, and remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
2. Tertiary qualifications in business, administration, events management or equivalent professional experience (minimum 3 years’ experience).
3. Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with diverse stakeholders.
4. Strong organisational abilities, ensuring that all tasks and events are planned and executed efficiently.
5. Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, with a solid understanding of managing data, financials, and records.
6. Confidence in your expertise and decision-making.
7. A self-starter and go-getter attitude, thriving in environments where you can take initiative and drive projects forward.
8. A love for being part of a close-knit and collaborative team, working together to achieve common goals.
9. Previous experience in event management and administration, enabling you to coordinate and manage large-scale projects with precision. Sound judgement and attention to detail.
