United Wambo is an Open Cut coal mine located 16 kilometres west of Singleton in the NSW Hunter Valley. It is a 50:50 joint venture between United Collieries (Glencore and MEU) and Wambo Coal (Peabody). It commenced operations in 2020 and in 2022 was awarded NSW Mining 'Operation of the Year'.
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the Senior Mine Accountant will play a critical role in delivering accurate and timely financial insights to support both operational and corporate needs. This includes responsibilities in management and financial accounting, capital expenditure management, budgeting and forecasting, contract evaluation, and production reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accountants.
* Utilise strong analytical skills to interpret data and identify trends.
* Oversee month-end processes and reporting for operational and capital expenditure.
* Assist in the preparation of monthly forecasts, annual budgets and Life of Mine planning processes.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights that drive operational decision-making.
* Support cost owners in cost control, accruals, and other commercial responsibilities.
* Work alongside the Commercial Manager to enhance commercial systems and deliver commercial training sessions.
* Foster a positive team environment that embraces change and continuous improvement.
About You:
* Proven ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
* Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
* Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and solve complex problems.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and SAP.
* Tertiary qualifications in commerce, accounting, or equivalent.
