About the Role
We're looking for experienced GPs with an interest in occupational medicine to support Defence Force Recruiting in assessing the health suitability of new recruits.
This non-clinical role is ideal for those who enjoy drawing on years of medical experience to make crucial decisions in a structured, policy-driven environment.
You'll work closely with a dedicated team, providing recommendations to help ensure candidates meet Defence standards.

This role is based in Canberra and we are offering a generous relocation package and potentially could discuss FIFO options. Key Responsibilities:
• Assess applications of civilians wanting to join the Australian Defence Force as deployable service men and women in accordance with Defence Policy and occupational medicine principles.
• Report to DFR personnel on the medical suitability of candidates for service within the ADF in accordance with Defence Policy and occupational medicine principles.
• Provide assistance and professional advice (both verbal and written) to all staff involved in the assessment process.
• Respond to complaint investigations, when required, in a timely manner.
• Undertake tasks as required by CMO or representative.
• Undertake case reviews with the findings submitted in the relevant written format.
• Adhere to Defence values and Defence and professional Codes of Conduct.
Minimum Requirements:
• The highest levels of personal integrity and ethical behaviour.
• Current unconditional and unrestricted registration as a Medical Practitioner, General in Australia with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
• Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) OR Fellowship of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM) OR Vocational Registration.
• Minimum of 2 years full-time postgraduate general practitioner experience (or part-time equivalent) within the last 5 years.
• Recent participation in Continuous Professional Development (CPD) activities in accordance with AHPRA.
