It's no easy task, but nothing rewarding ever is.What you'll do:The Senior Geologist will work with the Subsurface Team providing geoscience support related to reservoir exploration, appraisal, and field development activities in the Amadeus Basin and Onshore Shales in the McArthur and South Nicolson Basins to deliver the planned budget activity.Key accountabilities include:Provide geoscience support to the reservoir exploration, appraisal, and field development activities in the Amadeus Basin and Onshore Shales.Ensure all subsurface technical work is appropriately assured through formal and informal technical reviews both internally and externally (JV).Provide operational support as required for well planning and drilling, including monitoring drilling results and assist with operational recommendations including evaluation and C&S/P&A decisions.Evaluate current industry practices to identify improvement opportunities and share industry learnings/technological advancements.Provide technical input to YE Reserves and Resource process.Update and maintain Santos Management System documents, basin, play, and prospect summaries and appraisal strategy.Ensure compliance with regulatory reporting, including submission of annual reports, well completion reports and geological/geophysical reports/data.Prepare JV material as required, including TCM (Technical Committee Meeting) presentations.Complete end of well lookbacks and update estimates of field reserves/resources and risk using Santos's procedures and processes.Collaboration and knowledge sharing across the wider Brisbane and Santos subsurface communities and other key stakeholders.Keep up to date with new technology and where appropriate, develop, justify and implement the use of new and innovative technology/software.Compliance with the Santos Management System (SMS).Compliance with the Santos Delegation of Authority (DOA).Compliance with the Santos Corporate Governance and Safety requirements.What you'll bring:10+ years' experience in the oil and gas industry, with practical experience across exploration, appraisal, development and operations phases of the field life cycle.Experience working in multi-disciplinary subsurface teams evaluating exploration/appraisal opportunities leading to the generation of drilling opportunities.Experience building, maintaining, and evaluating large, complex geological models utilizing geological modelling software.Experience integrating sedimentology, depositional environments, petrophysics, and geomechanics.Experience in resources assessments, formulating, documenting and presenting to resource certifiers.Knowledge of organic/inorganic geochemistry including source rock analysis and isotopes.Proven self-starter and self-guided, with the ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively with key stakeholders.Excellent written and verbal communication skills that can be applied across disciplines and management levels.Desired experience for this position includes:Experience working on unconventional shale reservoirs, tight sandstone and fracture basement reservoirs (desirable but not essential).Experience with geosteering (desirable but not essential).Experience with Geophysics/seismic interpretation (desirable but not essential).Essential qualifications required for this position are:Degree qualified subsurface professional (geology/geoscience).What you'll get:Here, you'll be amongst high-calibre people and get to work on industry-leading projects.
