We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Policy Manager to lead key policy and advocacy projects.Your new companyThis role is pivotal in supporting the freight transport agenda and the strategy of the Executive Committee.
You will engage with industry and government stakeholders to champion research, policy, and advocacy initiatives, enhancing our reputation for high-quality, evidence-based expertise in Australia and New Zealand's transport sector.This peak body within the transport sector represents over 230 member organisations.
Their members span the entire industry, including passenger and freight operators, owners, managers, contractors, suppliers, manufacturers, and consultants.
With a national office in Canberra, they are committed to driving innovation, productivity, and efficiency in the rail industry.Your new roleIn this role you will be responsible for:Leading advocacy on freight and transport issues, representing the organisation on committees and working groups.Developing and managing policy positions and submissions, engaging with government and stakeholders.Project manage research initiatives to support advocacy efforts.Identify opportunities to engage members and develop influential policy on emerging rail freight issues.Develop briefing notes, papers, and agendas for the RFEC and other relevant groups.Foster collaboration between industry participants to progress harmonisation and interoperability.Work with the Communications and Marketing team to build the profile of our rail freight advocacy.Contribute to the planning of events.What you'll need to succeedTo be successful in this role you will have:Minimum five years' experience in a relevant policy role, preferably within a member-based association or public service.Relevant qualifications in Law, Social Science, Public Policy, Communications, or related fields.Strong knowledge of government policy and processes.Proven ability to manage multiple stakeholders and maintain productive relationships.Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.Strong research, analytical, and synthesising skills.Collaborative focus with the ability to engage independently with external stakeholders.Flexible, efficient, and driven with excellent time management and organisational skills.Proficiency in MS Office suite.What you'll get in returnBe part of a leading organisation driving change in the transport industry.Work with a supportive and united team.Opportunity to influence policy and advocacy in a critical sector.Free parking.2 days work from home.What you need to do nowIf this sounds like you, please "apply now" or call Emma on 02 61127660 - ****** this job isn't quite right for you, but you are looking for a new position, please contact us for a confidential discussion on your career.
