About the role: We are looking for a passionate and experienced Sustainability Planner to join the City's innovative, collaborative and high-performing team. This position will be crucial in realising the City's vision of a welcoming, livable city built by its people. The successful candidate will lead initiatives that advance environmental sustainability and climate adaptation goals and support their commitment to achieving net-zero emissions. What you will do: Provide strategic and technical advice on greenhouse gas emissions reduction and climate adaptation. Develop and implement effective strategies, programs, and projects to reduce emissions across council's operations. Lead the implementation and review of our Zero Net Emissions Plan. Engage with the community to encourage grassroots actions that address emissions and enhance climate resilience. Foster a culture of continuous improvement in our climate response initiatives. Build internal collaborations to deepen organisational understanding of sustainability. Establish regional partnerships with other councils and government entities to enhance sustainability efforts. As the Sustainability Planner, you will be at the forefront of shaping Port Adelaide Enfield's environmental future. Working closely with the Team Leader for Environment, the role will involve leading delivery of net zero emissions commitments and progressing climate adaptation outcomes both within the organisation and at a regional level. What you will bring: A tertiary qualification in environmental management, sustainability planning, or carbon management. A minimum of 5 years of experience in relevant roles. Knowledge of climate change mitigation, adaptation, and local government programs. Strong strategic planning skills, including research and analysis related to sustainability. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects effectively under pressure. Familiarity with contemporary strategic planning in sustainability and the carbon economy.
