Network Development Engineer, DC Edge Fabric Engineering
A key member of the AWS Infrastructure Services team, responsible for designing, planning, delivering, and operating all AWS global infrastructure. This involves supporting all AWS data centers and servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment to ensure customers have uninterrupted access to innovation.
You will collaborate with a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles to deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers.
Job Responsibilities
* Deploy network infrastructure across all of our network fabrics that supports Amazon Retail Service, Kindle, Payments, and multiple AWS services.
* Scale the network across multiple global Data Centers.
* Create and improve simple, repetitive deployment processes that increase both velocity and quality of delivery.
* Work closely with internal customers on designs/solutions; bringing those designs/solutions from concept to production.
* Create and update our network standards and ensure that the network is deployed to these standards.
* Collaborate with automation teams in defining tools that allow us to scale at unprecedented volume.
Day in the Life
The DC Edge Fabric engineering team owns the network layers between Amazon DC network fabrics and security zones. We own all the DC Edge fabrics, network designs, Network Availability Risks (NAR), and New Infrastructure Validation (NIV) initiatives, and operate DC Edge networks. We work closely with AWS and CDO service teams to create tailored network solutions and own DC edge solutions between regional production networks.
Basic Qualifications
* 4+ years of major internet routing protocols experience.
* 4+ years of working in a Linux/Unix environment experience.
* 1+ years of automation scripting using Python, Bash, Shell, and/or Perl experience.
Preferred Qualifications
* Knowledge of IP Networking fundamentals and Routing Protocols such as BGP, OSPF, R&S.
* Knowledge of network hardware and packet forwarding architectures.
* Ability to handle ambiguous or vaguely defined challenges and articulate technical solutions through abstract thinking.
