The Role:
As a Senior Analyst in Operational Risk, you will support the Head of Operational Risk by offering comprehensive assistance in all aspects of operational risk across the Group. Your responsibilities will include identifying, reporting, and embedding risk advisory support across the organisation, with a focus on business continuity (including crisis management), third-party contract management, risk in change, and both financial and non-financial risks. You’ll lead the development and maintenance of operational risk-related frameworks, policies, and procedures, as well as the creation of training materials, reporting mechanisms, and oversight activities. You’ll work closely with department leaders and subject matter experts across Corporate Services and Insurance Australia.
Position Accountabilities:
* Oversee the identification and management of operational risks, including pinpointing areas of potential vulnerability and devising mitigation strategies.
* Collaborate with the Senior Manager of Strategic Risk to manage the enterprise risk profile, focusing on emerging conduct risks.
* Provide and embed Business Continuity activities across the Group, including frameworks and third-party contract management.
* Offer specialist advice and oversight on risk activities, ensuring effective operational risk management throughout the business.
* Identify opportunities to enhance efficiencies in risk identification and management across the Group.
* Prepare comprehensive risk reports for the Senior Executive Team and Board Risk Committee, including evaluations against the risk appetite related to conduct risk matters.
* Engage continuously with various risk activities, such as the Risk Maturity Uplift Program.
* Develop and deliver risk education and awareness programs to ensure their embedment across the Group.
Qualifications & Experience:
* A minimum of 3 years of experience in enterprise risk management, supported by relevant tertiary education.
* Familiarity with APRA and ASIC expectations within the financial services sector.
* Experience in the general insurance industry is highly valued.
* Experience in business continuity and third-party contract management.
* Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
* Exceptional communication, influencing, and negotiation skills.
* Proven leadership abilities, strategic thinking, and high-impact presentation skills.
* Experience in developing risk reporting for different levels within the organisation, including the Board.
* Expertise in policy and framework development.
* Strong relationship-building skills with senior stakeholders across the Group.
