Byford Secondary College (SC) is seeking to appoint a dedicated and highly motivated Student Support Officer.
The role of Student Support Officer will assist in the delivery of the intervention programs to support student wellbeing and development. The Student Support Officer will ideally need to possess strong communication and interpersonal skills. They will be required to facilitate our triage process as well as running identified programs and maintaining comprehensive records. A collaborative and consultative approach is highly desirable to work within a well resourced and experienced student focused team. Prior experience supporting students through mentoring, mediation, counselling, school engagement, assessing levels of risk, interagency links and case management will be considered favourably.
Ideally you will have the capacity in supporting students with mental health needs, along with up-to-date Gatekeeper currency. Youth Mental Health First Aid training would be beneficial, as would experience in facilitating specialised programs. Relevant qualifications would be viewed favourably such as a Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Youth Work.

5. knowledge of the youth sector, particularly local organisations and services.

13. complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
14. complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement;
15. complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
