Work ScheduleStandard (Mon-Fri)Environmental ConditionsAdherence to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) Safety Standards, Office, Some degree of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) required (safety glasses, gowning, gloves, lab coat, ear plugs etc.)Job DescriptionPosition Summary:The Manufacturing Planner is responsible for coordinating and planning the production schedule to ensure efficient and cost-effective manufacturing processes as well as assisting with site inventory control and purchasing activities.This role involves collaborating with various departments, including production, procurement, quality and engineering to ensure materials and resources are available and production goals are met.Key Responsibilities:PlanningEffective and precise material planning with focus on customer needs, inventory targets and manufacturing capacitiesAnalyze production capacity and identify potential bottlenecksHelp to complete routine review and recalculations of material and product replenishment criteria considering historic consumption, volatility and marketing intelligenceAs required provide timely information to customer service, marketing, and sales team as to manufactured product availabilityInventory ControlEnsure raw material inventory levels are optimized and expiry level is maintained within targetsSupervise assigned inventory levels, perform physical counts of inventory, and reconcile actual stock counts to SAP reports.Perform Cycle Counts to maintain inventory accuracy.PurchasingProvide regular assistance in Procurement / PurchasingAssist in ensuring that all required materials, products and services are procured in a timely, resourceful manner and resolve any issues with suppliersReview order acknowledgements and invoices (particularly Oxoid and Remel) to confirm acceptance of shelf life and pricingHelp in coordinating supplier adherence to agreed terms utilising vendor non-conformance procedures where appropriateComplete reporting and update metrics in a timely manner and in the agreed formatParticipate in Practical Process Improvement (PPI) activities (including RCCMs and JDIs) as appropriate and utilises continuous improvement methodologies in daily work.Perform related duties as required and/or assigned to contribute to the efficient operation of the team and businessFrequent Contacts:InternalProduction TeamsProcurement TeamQuality and Regulatory teamsAccounts Payable / ReceivableCustomer Service and Commercial teamsExternalOxoid (Basingstoke), Remel (Dartford), Freight ForwardersOther international, national and local suppliersMinimum Requirements/Qualifications:Qualifications & ExperienceShown experience as a Manufacturing Planner or in a similar role within a manufacturing environment.Knowledge of production planning concepts, lean manufacturing and plan for every partProficiency in using production planning software and tools (e.g., ERP systems).Skills & AttributesExcellent analytical and problem-solving skills.Effective communication and interpersonal skills.Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.High attention to detailStrong numerical skillsAbility to work optimally under pressure and meet targetsOther Important InformationAppreciation/understanding of microbiology products is desirableExperience in purchasing and procurement will be helpfulThis position typically operates in a fast paced manufacturing environment.Other Job Requirements:Actively participate in EHS system by adhering to policies, reporting hazards and encourages others to do so to ensure a safe and healthy workplace environmentActive involvement in PPI as a daily way of workingThermo Fisher Scientific is an EEO/Affirmative Action Employer
