Job Summary
:
In this role, you will use 2-D/3-D computer-aided design (CAD) to develop design models for civil/structural engineering systems such as earthwork, drainage, road design and foundation.
You will assist with the development of work plans and review work prepared by designers/drafters.
Your work will help ensure civil/structural designs are high quality, accurate, complete, and in compliance.
Major Responsibilities:
1. Leads or administers work of civil/structural designers and drafters for a business line technology to include the preparation of layouts, study drawings, detailed 2-D and 3-D Computer Aided Design (CAD) design models and construction drawings
2. Develops designs for complete and complex civil/structural engineering systems such as earthwork, drainage, road design, foundation, and steel detailing with minimum supervision from which detailed scale models and/or construction drawings are completed
3. Assists in constructing detailed scale models
4. Prepares or assists with the preparation of assigned material requisitions and bid evaluations
5. Monitors and checks work for compliance with approved civil/structural design standards to provide quality design, reliable/safe plant operation and construction economy
6. Participates in constructability reviews
7. Other responsibilities as designated.
Education and Experience Requirements:
8. Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.
9. Specialized courses in drafting, design and engineering practices.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
10. Extensive experience in design and drafting and demonstrated skill in a lead role or recognized courses in the directing of personnel.
11. Sound knowledge of design and drafting techniques, engineering drawings, graphic arts, reading of drawings, and reproduction methods used by the discipline.
12. Familiar with both structural steel and concrete foundation design and drafting.
13. Skill in reading, interpreting and using related documents and drawings prepared by other project groups.
