Summary:We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Occupational Therapist (Aged Care) to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing, planning, and delivering occupational therapy services to elderly residents, with the aim of enhancing their independence, functional abilities, and overall quality of life. The Occupational Therapist will work collaboratively with residents, their families, and other healthcare professionals to create and implement effective care plans.Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive assessments of residents’ physical, cognitive, and emotional abilities to determine their occupational therapy needs.
Develop and implement individualised therapy plans to address residents' functional challenges and enhance their ability to perform daily living activities.
Provide therapeutic interventions, including functional exercises, adaptive techniques, and assistive device recommendations, to improve residents' independence and quality of life.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, and social workers, to ensure integrated and coordinated care.
Educate residents and their families on strategies for managing daily tasks, adapting the home environment, and using assistive devices effectively.
Monitor and evaluate residents' progress, making adjustments to therapy plans as needed to achieve optimal outcomes.
Document and maintain accurate records of assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and outcomes.
Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and organisational policies related to occupational therapy and aged care.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives, contributing to the development of best practices and evidence-based approaches in occupational therapy.
Provide guidance and support to junior occupational therapists and students as required.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy or equivalent; Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy or a related field preferred.
Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as an Occupational Therapist.
Proven experience in occupational therapy, preferably within an aged care or geriatric setting.
Strong knowledge of occupational therapy techniques, assessment methods, and interventions relevant to aged care.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with residents, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on improving residents' functional abilities and quality of life.
Ability to work independently and manage a varied caseload in a dynamic environment.
