About XOCEAN XOCEAN is an ocean data company – we collect data for clients ranging from mapping the seabed to monitoring the environment. However, we do this differently, instead of using conventional crewed survey ships, we have developed a marine robotic system known as an Uncrewed Surface Vessel (USV). Overview As the Melbourne Technical Centre Workshop Lead you will oversee the facility and all USVs assigned to Australia and neighboring regions. You will oversee the Field Operatives and any additional maintenance team members gradually hired into the region, in both the workshop and in the field supporting projects. You will maintain the spare parts, tools, equipment, vehicles, trailers, and equipment needed to support the workshop and field operations. As the senior member of the technical team in the region, you will provide first line tech support for maintenance and vessels at sea, coordinating with and engaging with the global tech team to ensure consistency of support and continual improvement of our technology. Main Duties & Responsibilities: Coordinate, schedule, and ensure quality of USV maintenance repairs to include preventative, mechanical and electrical repair. Coordinate, schedule, and ensure quality of mission system installation, maintenance, and commissioning. Assess and report on mission readiness of both the USV and any mission systems installed, ensuring that any needed calibrations and configurations are up to date and the results documented. Oversee stock of all spare parts and equipment for the USVs and their mission systems. Maintain the Melbourne Technical Centre to an excellent standard and take responsibility for promoting 5S principles throughout Supervise the employees assigned to the maintenance and field teams, prioritizing and assign work Make approved modifications to USVs (ECNs) to maintain the reliability, efficiency, safety, and mission readiness of the fleet. Coordinate with the projects team to prioritize and schedule work to maximize USV availability for projects Ensure quality, compliance, and safety of work Coach and mentor technicians Provide first line tech support for vessels at sea globally as part of the tech support team, normally during Australian business hours. Requirements: Essential Skills / Attributes and Experience Five years of hands-on industrial or marine maintenance experience At least two of these years to be in a management/ supervisory position Excellent technical knowledge of both mechanical and electrical marine systems Leaving certificate or equivalent required Strong customer service and organizational skills required Valid driver's license required Proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office and web-based applications preferred Experience with budgeting and scheduling Desirable Experience Team management experience in an environment with strong operational metrics. Professional Marine Experience Degree or Trade qualification preferred.
