An exciting opportunity exists to work within the Northern Sydney Home Nursing Service (NSHNS) Oncology Palliative Care Team providing clinical leadership that facilitates the ongoing development of palliative care within NSHNS and Northern Sydney Local Health District (NSLHD) and developing the expertise of NSHNS nursing and allied health staff in providing care to patients requiring palliative care at home. Where you'll be working The Ku Ring Gai Centre is located at Macquarie Hospital North Ryde and delivers care to people living in the Ku Ring Gai catchment of NSLHD. What you'll be doing The Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2 (CNS2) position provides and promotes evidence based nursing practice, relating to palliative care in home settings. The CNS 2 works in partnership with the NSHNS Oncology/Palliative Care Clinical Nurse Consultants to develop the expertise of Northern Sydney Home Nursing Service and and allied health staff in providing care to patients in the home People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background encouraged to apply. Candidates will need to meet the following criteria: Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Nurse Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA) with relevant post-registration qualifications and at least 3 years' experience working in the clinical area of their specified post-graduate qualification or such other qualifications or relevant equivalent experience. Substantial and current experience in palliative care, using advanced clinical skills in patient assessment and care planning. Demonstrated ability to provide clinical education for staff, and patients. Demonstrated knowledge and ability to mentor and coach nursing staff to enhance professional development. Demonstrated experience in leading and initiating activities to improve clinical service delivery and patient clinical outcomes. Demonstrated ability to work individually and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Current NSW driver’s licence.
