We are seeking a dedicated and caring Aboriginal and Islander Education Officer (AIEO) to join our vibrant school community. In this crucial role, you will foster a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment for our Aboriginal students. Acting as a liaison between the school and community, you will work closely with teachers, students, and families to create a culturally responsive atmosphere that empowers Aboriginal students to reach their full potential.
Your responsibilities will include providing mentoring and pastoral care to encourage student participation and achievement, as well as supporting the development of plans for students at risk. We are looking for someone with a strong connection to Aboriginal culture who can establish positive working relationships with families and the community, facilitating their involvement in shaping school policies and programs.

Minimum Requirements:
* be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
* obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start; and
* consent to a National Criminal History Check with the Department's Screening Unit.

* Demonstrated good interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact on a range of levels in a variety of settings and with different audiences, including community members, teaching and other professionals.
* Demonstrated ability to contribute to a school-level team and to provide multi-cultural direction in the development of the educational program, development of language resources, and evaluation of education and behaviour management programs.
* Demonstrated ability to effectively assist teachers in implementing educational and behaviour management programs.
* Demonstrated good organisational skills that will assist in the delivery of effective education programs to students.
* Demonstrated ability to assist with the general health and well-being of students.
