STEPS Group is seeking an experienced Chief Executive Officer to join their leadership team and build on a 35-year legacy and drive growth on a national scale.
STEPS Group is a national, independent not-for-profit organisation, working with people living with disability or experiencing disadvantage.
With a Head Office in Caloundra on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, STEPS Group is a committed provider of Adult Education and Training, Disability Employment Services, Community Support, and Mental Health support services.
STEPS Group is part of a group of for-purpose companies working alongside both STEPS Pathways College and Charity and STEPS Staffing Solutions.
Responsibilities
The STEPS Group Chief Executive Officer will be responsible for managing and overseeing the processes and service delivery of State and Federal Service Contracts.
Duties will include but not be limited to:
1. Collaborating with the Board, Managing Director, Peer STEPS Group CEOs, and Executive Leadership team to shape and execute the organisational vision and strategic direction of the STEPS Group of Companies.
2. Leading and managing a nationwide team.
3. Overseeing and navigating the performance of state and federal government contracts, ensuring compliance and effective operations.
4. Liaising with Federal and State government departments, making a productive contribution to sector discussions and supporting service excellence.
5. Leveraging commercial knowledge to drive organisational success.
6. Overseeing tendering processes, contract timetables, and delivery to meet organisational objectives.
7. Demonstrating a well-developed understanding of risk management, technology governance, innovation, and strong governance.
8. Building effective reporting processes that measure the right things to optimize the performance of the organisation.
9. Building and maintaining performance structures and cultures that promote excellence and accountability.
10. Fostering a consultative approach to strategy development and reputation management, engaging with a broad range of stakeholders.
11. Exhibiting exceptional communication skills, adept at crafting and delivering appropriate messages to diverse audiences.
12. Demonstrating a contemporary understanding of issues facing the community sector, particularly the disability sector.
13. Demonstrated experience of working with people living with a disability will be highly regarded.
The Successful Applicant
To be considered for this opportunity you must meet the following criteria:
1. Proven experience as a Chief Executive Officer or Senior Executive in a not-for-profit or commercial organisation.
2. Proven experience in Vocational Education and Training (VET) or Registered Training Organisations (RTO), with a strong track record in managing state and federal contracts.
3. Tertiary qualification in Business, Commerce, or Social Sciences is ideal.
4. Experience in building and maintaining high-performance cultures.
5. Exceptional consultative and communication skills.
6. Ability to clearly articulate strategy and, with a hands-on approach to leadership, bring people along to understand how performance is delivered.
7. Hold a current Driver Licence and have the ability to obtain a National Police Clearance.
8. Must be able to be approved by ASQA and all government agencies for fit and proper person test.
