The Animal Health Office Coordinator provides high level administrative and operational support to the Animal Health Team and Life Sciences Manager to ensure effective and streamlined daily operations. Additionally the Animal Health Office Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the Melbourne Zoo endorsed species plan by securing necessary licences and permits, approvals and logistics required to transfer animals in and out of Melbourne Zoo.
Key responsibilities include optimising daily team workflow, maintenance of animal health database, routine pathology results, assisting with staff rostering, liaising with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate veterinary procedures, permit approvals, and acting as an assistant to the Life Sciences manager to comply with reporting requirements.
The role will work closely with Veterinarians, Nurses and Keepers to deliver world leading animal health and welfare management to animals in our care. The position requires a high level of diplomacy and tact, compassion and drive.
The ideal candidate should have:
* Demonstrated experience in managing workflow in a fast paced and variable environment
* Exceptional organisational and time management skills
* An ability to monitor and modify work flows within a complex team
* A veterinary nursing or animal technician background and a deep understanding of the complexities of veterinary care
* The highest level of empathy and understanding an ability to flex and adapt when required
