Our passion for safety and wellbeing is what unites us. About the role The Data and Analytics division supports prevention-led and client-centric decision making throughout WorkSafe. WorkSafe identifies data & analytics as a critical enabler of the Strategic Plan as it supports: accurately targeting workplaces where the most serious injuries and fatalities are predicted to occur, enabling hazards to be identified and risks controlled before workers are harmed optimal outcomes for injured workers by identifying, as early as possible, when an injured worker’s recovery is not going to plan, enabling tailored recovery support to be provided to those most in need These two Senior Data Developer roles are key positions in the Data and Analytics division that will contribute to the design and implementation of a data platform that enables on-demand access to enriched business intelligence at scale, and applied data science activities, such as predictive analytics and machine learning. Key accountabilities: Provision of Technical Subject Matter Expertise to the design and implementation of a modern data platform through effective collaboration with Data & Analytics and broader Strategic Delivery stakeholders Utilising a critical and inquisitive thinking mindset, lead the approach to the continuous improvement process with a focus on system optimisation and automation Influence and lead design efforts for building secure and scalable environments that satisfy both operational and product needs in accordance with corporate guidelines Resolve emergent service problems and build automated tools to identify/prevent problem recurrence and drive the resolution of issues identified via application and systems monitoring Develop file-based and other system integration data sourcing and transformation routines, ensuring the quality and integrity of data across its lifecycle within the data platform Effective collaboration with analytics and business intelligence practitioners to support the design, prototype and production of data & analytics assets. About you You have extensive experience within Software Development, Data Engineering or a related field with expert programming skills and you are proficient in managing infrastructure as code. Your deep understanding in database design and implementation supports your ability in administering deployed data driven solutions, including platforms ensuring efficient operation. Your excellent time management, prioritisation and organisational skills showcase your ability to meet tight deadlines. Further, you will also possess: Understands Relational database design and proficient in advanced querying using SQL. Experience using data profiling techniques to perform analysis of data from source systems Experience using a variety of tools to wrangle, capture and prepare data from a variety of sources for consumption Knowledge and proven working experience in conceptual, logical and physical data modelling techniques Expertise in Web/Cloud-based technologies and system administration within cloud and co-located hosting environment Experience using data/BI visualisation tools like Qlik, PowerBI, SAS VA Exposure to projects across all phases of the system development life cycle, understanding of the theory and application of continuous integration/continuous delivery Understanding of Agile development methods including: core values, guiding principles, and key agile practices Qualifications: Tertiary qualification in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a relevant discipline Working with Us At WorkSafe, we aspire for every employee to feel connected, safe and valued in their team, for teams to feel valued in the workplace, and for WorkSafe to be valued in the community.
