Your role as Manager Financial Accounting will be to assist the Head of Finance with financial advice, analysis and information to deliver the long-term financial strategy and support the Authority to achieve its objectives.You will lead a small team of staff who will provide Financial Accounting and Transactional Services. The role is fast paced and operates in a complex, high-profile and often changing environment.This fixed-term full-time role is for a period of 4 years with the possibility for extension. We’re delivering a lasting legacy that will make our whole region better, sooner, together through the power of sport.About your ResponsibilitiesProvide leadership and management of statutory financial reporting requirements and obligations of the Authority including, but not limited to:Preparation of annual financial statements;Preparation and lodgement of Business Activity Statements, Fringe Benefits Tax, Payroll Tax and Workers Compensation Returns;Liaison and collaboration with external and internal auditors;Ensure compliance with relevant Financial Accounting Standards.Design and implement financial systems and processes to improve the effectiveness of service delivery and ensure compliance with all relevant policies and procedures.Lead the establishment and maintenance of financial policies and procedures ensuring consultation with relevant stakeholders and compliance with government financial policies.Oversight and management of the financial internal controls, including general ledger account reconciliations, chart of accounts and compliance with finance and procurement policies.Oversight and management of the treasury function including bank account management and cashflow management and overseeing the management of the corporate credit cards and expense management processes.Management of and key point of contact to the external Corporate Services shared services provider (CAA) for Finance and Payroll.Coordinate month end and year end close processes including ensuring effective and accurate monthly reporting, general ledger adjustments in accordance with required timeframes.Contribute to a workplace that enables success and empowers the Authority’s staff to perform to their full potential with a focus on better services and outcomes.About YouPossession of a relevant tertiary qualification in accounting, commerce or a related discipline.Membership to the Institute of Chartered Accountants (CA) or Certified Practicing Accountants (CPA).Extensive experience in financial accounting, financial management practices and systems, legislative frameworks and policy. Experience in a government setting would be highly regarded.Demonstrated ability to analyse data, problem solve and identify discrepancies within financial data.High level interpersonal, communication and analytical skills particularly within large complex organisations.Experience in leading accountability and outcomes and managing a small team in a changing complex environment.About our WorkplaceWe are inclusive.
