The Role You Could Play
The Head of Digital Product Design will work closely with key business stakeholders and cross-functional product teams to champion the customer in every conversation and ensure we are focusing on the right customer problems and solving for them in the right way. This should be delivered through data and evidence-based decision making. With your extensive knowledge of human-centred design you will work collaboratively with the Digital Product Management team in ensuring that our customer-centric product roadmaps strike the right balance between meeting customers’ needs, wants and expectations, whilst continuously unlocking opportunities to surprise and delight our customers through innovation and bringing to life the “MECCA Magic”.
Key responsibilities and deliverables also include:
1. Lead, mentor and coach the Digital Product Design team to high performance. Help cultivate a team culture centred around agile values and principles.
2. Shape the product design strategy and influence others on your approach and vision.
3. Work collaboratively with the Digital Product Management team to define the product vision, strategy, roadmaps and OKRs; centred around delivering value to the customer and aligning to the broader corporate goals and strategic objectives.
4. Lead, develop and interpret product design strategy for designers in the team.
5. Be hands-on applying and evolving the Product Design process and guide cross-discipline teams in human centred design practices and design thinking activities.
6. Identify high value initiatives and gain stakeholder buy-in across MECCA.
7. Guide stakeholders, facilitate workshops and engage with users via qualitative and quantitative research to uncover pain points.
8. Optimise our UX research practice, through helping to define research strategy, backlogs and processes.
9. Build and manage stakeholder relationships across the business. Act as a Digital Product Design champion, educating the broader organisation on processes, practices and ways of working.
What You Will Bring
A senior role within the Omni Channel Products and Experience Team, the Head of Digital Product Design will be proficient in creating customer centric digital and omni channel experiences as part of an agile product organisation. Delivering creative, engaging and exciting experience while ensuring commercial outcomes.
Experienced in leading UX/CX and design teams for a national or international brand, you will inspire, lead, mentor and coach a talented team of eight, with expertise in CX, UX, UI, design and research. With the Digital Product team still being in its infancy, you will have an opportunity to guide and shape the Product Design strategy, ways of working, processes, and practices, whilst simultaneously helping to raise digital product design literacy across the organisation. As an advocate of continuous improvement, you’ll be focused on building a high performing team that uses feedback and retros as a key driver for team growth and culture.
In addition, the successful candidate will also have the following skills and experience:
10. 7+ years as a digital product designer with practical and deep understanding of product design (UX,UI,CX), research, data analysis, and technology.
11. 3+ years in a hands-on leadership role, where you established solid working practices and maintained a positive and high performing team culture.
12. Good theoretical and practical knowledge of product design systems, frameworks, processes and methodologies.
13. An expert in translating customer and business needs to creative and exciting user experiences backed by strategy, data and research.
14. Experience in designing digital products in line with iterative and incremental approach to software development.
15. Experience in driving conversion rate optimisation and experimentation through A/B testing and other methods.
16. Technically strong with a solid understanding of digital platforms, capabilities and integrations across Web, Mobile App, CMS platforms, ideally in an ecommerce/omni-channel organisation.
17. Good theoretical and practical knowledge of agile delivery frameworks such as Scrum, Kanban or SaFe.
18. Inspiring storyteller with the ability to evangelize and rally support for your craft and ways of working.
19. A self-starter with the ability and desire to work in a fast-pace and innovative environment with multiple stakeholders and interested parties.
