Selection Criteria
1. SC1 Demonstrated ability to operate and maintain equipment and machinery, with a particular focus on a range of gardening equipment and machinery.
2. SC2 Demonstrated ability to conduct general indoor and outdoor maintenance and repair tasks in a school context.
3. SC3 Demonstrated ability to organise and prioritise assigned work tasks to meet deadlines.
4. SC4 Demonstrated ability to co-ordinate and manage the use and maintenance of equipment within the work area.
5. SC5 Demonstrated knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety regulations and how they apply in a school setting.
Role
Grounds
* Maintaining all grass areas including mowing, trimming and edging.
* Trim trees or any unsafe limbs.
* Controlling weeds including a spraying program.
* Maintaining all existing garden beds including edging, weeding, pruning, planting, mulching and watering.
* Establishing new garden beds as directed and perform minor landscaping of the grounds.
* Check external student seating and play equipment to ensure they are sound.
* Clear drains, spouting, gutters and downpipes as required.
* Pressure cleaning of building and paved areas as required.
* Weekly inspections of grounds for defects, trip hazards.
* Collect hardware items as required.
* Maintain all equipment in a satisfactory, safe and workable condition.
* Clear grounds of litter, graffiti and empty bins as required.
* Cleaning of bio-hazards as required.
Maintenance
* Perform minor repairs as directed by the Principal, for example:
* Minor plumbing (leaky taps).
* Minor electrical (light globe replacement).
* Minor plastering.
* Painting of internal classrooms as required.
* Repair of furniture and equipment e.g. table tops, table legs, castors.
* Identify and report the need for repairs.
* Undertake general maintenance and minor building works.
* Moving of heavy furniture and equipment.
* Keep storage facilities clean, tidy and safe, including signage for OHS risks.
* General setting up and packing away after major events.
* General handyperson duties as directed.
* Demonstrate the ability to work independently and also with minimum supervision within a team environment.
* A full Drivers Licence is required.
* Assist with moving furniture.
* Other duties as directed by the Principal.
Responsibilities

Other Duties
* Ensure discretion and confidentiality are maintained at all times.
* Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
* Other duties as required by Principal & Business Manager, in line with role classification.
* Being an active member of the staff team.

Location Profile
Established in 1981, Sunbury Heights Primary School is located on Charter Road East in Sunbury. Our school grounds adjoin those of Sunbury Downs secondary college. The school supports a large area of Sunbury incorporating the quickly growing Ashfield and Rosenthal estates (Sunbury south). Current enrolment projections for 2025 are approximately 475 students.
