Principal Lawyer

This pivotal role involves developing and mentoring in-house legal capability while delivering high-quality legal services to the QBCC. You will work closely with customers, external lawyers, and organisations, showcasing professionalism, legal expertise, and a commitment to exceptional service.
Key Responsibilities:
* Deliver high-quality advocacy services for administrative review proceedings in the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal, judicial review and other proceedings in the Supreme Court, and appellant proceedings in the Queensland Civil and Administrative Appeals Tribunal and the Court of Appeal.
* Conduct complex legal and other research and provide legal advice to the Senior Leadership Team relevant to the statutory functions of the QBCC and contemporary, contentious, and emerging issues within the construction industry.
* Lead, mentor, and develop a team of lawyers, including providing clear guidance and constructive feedback, with the development of in-house capability as a priority.
Requirements:
* Demonstrated high-level litigation experience, preferably related to government and preferably within administrative law, or civil litigation.
* Admitted as a Solicitor or Barrister of the Supreme Court of Queensland.
* Holder of a current practicing certificate issued by the Queensland Law Society or Queensland Bar Association.
