Together we are making a difference so South Australia thrives.The Director, Legal and Procurement is responsible for leading the Legal and Procurement function within the South Australian Tourism Commission (SATC). This includes management of legal practitioners and procurement specialists.The unit delivers high quality, consistent and efficient information, advice and support on:General legal, commercial and compliance matters (including privacy, intellectual property and dispute resolution)Contract planning, drafting, review and negotiationSupport with contract management such as contract interpretation, variation and relationship managementProcurement processes, reporting and governance to ensure compliance with state government requirements and to achieve value for money for SATC.Key Responsibilities of the role include:Lead the Legal and Procurement team as a high performing and experienced unit, ensuring that appropriate services are provided in an efficient, timely manner, encouraging effective teamwork, innovation and process improvement.Promote the Legal and Procurement team’s image and reputation, highlighting its role as a trusted advisor that seeks to work as partners with stakeholders while providing efficient and effective service delivery in its provision of considered, solutions-driven and pragmatic advice to enable SATC's to achieve its strategic priorities.Work closely with the SATC Executive team and Senior Managers, and internal and external stakeholders, to achieve SATC wider strategic objectives in a collaborative manner.Lead legal advice for strategic or high risk/ high value matters.Proactively participate in commercial negotiations in consultation with the Chief Executive and the Executive Team on new commercial developments and major investment decisions.Provision of legal, procurement and strategic advice to Chief Executive and Executive team.Oversee the legal function to ensure lawyers are providing sound, considered and balanced legal advice that appropriately identifies and analyses risks and mitigations.Oversee the procurement function and staff which includes administering and coordinating procurement processes, managing the preparation of tender documentation and contract specifications and administration of associated processes such as tender evaluation and selection processes and the finalisation of contract details with successful tenderers.Draft and finalise SATC’s strategic and complex contracts in consultation with other SATC staff members.Develop and maintain a strategic approach to contract management by implementing a program of capability development in commercial, procurement, contract management, and business acumen skills across SATC.Work closely and engage with SATC contract managers to ensure that regular monitoring and reporting on service provider delivery and compliance with contract criteria are adhered to, including quality of service delivery and financial accountability in line with contract and legislative requirements and positive relationship management is developed and maintained.A wide range of additional benefits are available at SATC including:Opportunity to join a fun and active social clubAnnual Calendar of Wellness eventsMental Health First Aid TrainingAnnual skin checks and flu vaccinationsCasual Fridays (donation towards a nominated charity).Staff recognition and service awardsAccess to a free and confidential employee assistance programPurchased Leave EntitlementsThis position is offered as a Non-executive contract for a 5-year term.The South Australian Public Sector is committed to building a diverse workforce, ensuring equitable opportunities for all, and fostering an inclusive culture where everyone belongs, and their uniqueness is valued.Applications consisting of a resume and cover letter are to be directed to Stephanie Rozokos, Chief Operating Officer, at the South Australian Tourism Commission.Applications close: 5.00pm, Wednesday 20 November 2024Enquiries can be directed to People and Culture on 08 8429 4561.The South Australian public sector promotes flexible ways of working including part-time.
