HR Manager Role
Our client, a rapidly expanding retail business with approximately 900 employees, is seeking an experienced HR Manager to establish foundational HR policies and procedures.
This newly created role offers an exciting opportunity for an HR professional to make a significant impact in shaping the future of the business.
The HR Manager will initially focus on building robust HR operations and compliance frameworks, with the potential to evolve into a more strategic leadership role as the business grows and matures.
Key Responsibilities:
* HR Operations and Compliance:
o Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies, procedures, and handbooks to ensure compliance with employment law and best practices.
o Design and manage processes for recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and offboarding.
o Ensure compliance with employment regulations, including right-to-work checks, GDPR, and health and safety obligations.
o Manage employee relations cases, providing advice and support to managers on disciplinary, grievance, and other ER issues.
o Oversee and improve payroll processes in collaboration with the finance team.
* Employee Engagement and Development:
o Develop initiatives to enhance employee engagement, retention, and wellbeing across the workforce.
o Implement training and development programs to build capability and support career progression.
* Strategic HR Development:
o Partner with senior leadership to identify and address workforce planning needs.
o Drive organisational change and improvement initiatives as the company scales.
o Provide data-driven insights and analysis to inform business decisions, including reporting on HR metrics such as turnover, absence, and engagement.
o Support the Head of Operations in aligning the HR strategy with broader business goals.
* Leadership and Collaboration:
o Act as a trusted advisor to managers across the business, providing coaching and guidance on people management issues.
o Collaborate with department heads to support business growth and operational efficiency.
o Build and lead an HR team as the function grows, ensuring the delivery of a high-quality HR service.
Requirements:
* Proven experience in an HR Manager or equivalent role within a fast-paced environment (retail or multi-site experience is a plus).
* Strong understanding of UK employment law and HR best practices.
* Experience creating and implementing HR policies, procedures, and processes from scratch.
* Confident handling employee relations cases, with excellent problem-solving skills.
* Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
* Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships across all levels of the business.
