The Role
Bega Penrith are seeking a Laboratory Technician to join the largest white milk site in our network. For 100 years we have been producing quality product and are extremely proud of our rich heritage. The Laboratory Technician will join a team of four and report directly into the Technical Leader.
You will be responsible for conducting quality assurance of products, systems and materials to ensure zero defects, and product quality is in line with company l standards.
Our Penrith site is located in Greater Western Sydney on the banks of the Nepean River. We manufacture a range of more than 50 milk-based products. Penrith produces around 145 million litres of product every year! We proudly source milk from around 60 dairy farms across NSW and are passionate about supporting local farmers
This role is a Permanent full-time position, the working days are Sunday-Thursday afternoons.
Responsibilities
* Conduct general and specialised microbiological testing, including Petri-film, spread plate, pour plate, and antibiotic sensitivity
* Ensure accurate and timely data entry of all test results into SAP and maintain lab equipment with regular calibration and upkeep
* Read and report on analysis outcomes, confirming results for accuracy and reliability.
* Demonstrate the ability to prioritize tasks, adhere to quality standards, and perform GMP and internal audits
* Provide technical guidance and mentorship without supervision, fostering team compliance with regulations and business objectives
About you
* Diploma or equivalent in Food Science or related field
* Experience in microbiological testing
* Experience within a food manufacturing environment
* Previous exposure to HACCP/GMP/Good Laboratory Practices
* Experienced practitioner able to work unsupervised
