About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled Communications Technician to join a dynamic and growing team in the Defence industry. This role is crucial for overseeing the assembly, repair, and maintenance of specialised RF communications equipment. The successful candidate will play an integral part in ensuring systems run smoothly, while also providing exceptional service to clients and collaborating with technical teams.
Key Responsibilities:
* Perform scheduled and unscheduled repairs and maintenance of RF communications equipment.
* Test and troubleshoot communication systems using specialised RF testing tools.
* Identify and resolve complex technical issues, offering tailored solutions.
* Develop and maintain technical documentation including technical notes, reports, and drawings.
* Participate in on-call duties to address after-hours client issues and ensure contract obligations are met.
* Lead, mentor, and train junior technicians.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain product compliance and safety standards.
* Support the development of training materials and eventually serve as Lead Instructor.
* Foster strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs and delivering outstanding service.
About You:
* At least 5 years of experience working as an RF Technician with a focus on HF, UHF, and satellite communication systems.
* Must be an Australian citizen and either hold or be eligible for an Australian Defence Security Clearance.
* Knowledge and experience working in a Defence environment.
* Experience in Defence UHF Satellite communications.
* Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and repair at the component level.
* Ability to interpret complex technical drawings.
* Excellent communication skills and a customer-first attitude.
* Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks under pressure.
* A C Class driver's license is required.
