We live our core values: determined, innovative, reliable and collaborative.The Director Operations- Guided Weapons is responsible for the production of KONGSBERG guided weapons in Australia including leading staff directly reporting to this role and other supporting functions based at the facility. The role is directly accountable for the manufacturing engineering, planning, production, supply chain, facility and security functions for the KONGSBERG Production Capability located in Newcastle. This role has a primary reporting responsibility through to the KDAu Managing Director and a secondary reporting role for quality assurance and subject matter expert advice to the Kongsberg Defence and Aerospace (KDA) Missile Division Production Director based in Norway. There are also liaison responsibilities for this role with the Guided Weapons Program Manager (GWPM) during the program of work to establish the facility, install the equipment, train the staff and during qualification of the complete facility set-up.Main Tasks:Leading the Guided Weapons operations team including the manufacturing engineering, planning, production, supply chain and facilities management functions.Working with the GWPM and Centre of Excellence in KONGSBERG through the establishment of the Kongsberg Guided Weapon Production Capability including facility construction, equipment installation, recruitment of staff, training of staff and commissioning of the factory.Recruiting the team as per the schedule and ensure they are appropriately trained.Supporting the GWPM for the installation of factory equipment including training personnel on the use and maintenance of the equipment.Implementing the Kongsberg Production System based upon lean principles to ensure high levels of product quality, on time deliveries, and creating a culture of continuous improvement.Leading a strong safety culture and ensuring Health, Safety and Environmental issues are well managed.Supporting the achievement of the qualification of guided weapons manufacturing at the facility through the graduated level of construction activities in the facility.Liaising closely with the KDA Subject Matter Experts based in Norway for the establishment and operation of the facility including undertaking training in Norway.Undertaking travel as required, both within Australia and internationally, to fulfill the requirements of this role.Developing and managing the operation budgets, schedule and provide the necessary reporting of progress.Supporting the development of processes and business system utilisation to achieve commonality within KDAu while meeting KDA requirements.Required Qualifications and Experience:Tertiary qualifications in EngineeringTertiary qualifications in Management (Desirable).Minimum of 10 years' Operations Management experience.Experience in managing engineering, production, planning and supply chain functions.Experience working in defence industry (Desirable).Experience in defence manufacturing (Desirable).Must be an Australian citizen and have the ability to obtain and maintain an Australian security clearance.Must be able to access information controlled under the US International Traffic of Arms Regulations (ITAR).Deadline: Monday 25 November 2024 9:00 am AEST, please apply via the Seek Website.
