We are seeking a passionate and proactive Work, Health & Safety Officer to champion safety across our organisation.Brief Summary of role:The Work, Health & Safety (WHS) Officer is responsible for fostering a culture of safety and wellbeing by implementing and monitoring systems that ensure a safe and compliant work environment. The role entails identifying and mitigating risks, maintaining WHS documentation, facilitating training, and supporting Kalano’s commitment to continuous improvement in safety standards. Key Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain WHS policies, and safety systems.
Conduct and update risk assessments
Conduct workplace audits and site inspections, ensuring adherence to WHS standards.
Deliver engaging safety training, workshops, and toolbox talks.
Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions.
Facilitate and manage WHS meetings and updates to staff.
Ensure appropriate use and availability of PPE, health and afety equipment and facilities
Prepare and update emergency response plans and facilitate drills.
Salary and Conditions:Employment Type: FulltimeSalary Range: $70,000 - $86,000 per annum (pro-rata)Entitlements/Benefits:

Location: Kalano's Main Office, Katherine, NT 0850Hours of work: 37.5 hours per week. Monday - Friday | 08:00am - 4:30pm. with a 1hour unpaid lunch break.The successful applicant should possess the following:Qualifications Certificate III, IV or Diploma in Work, Health & Safety (or willing to obtain)Experience & Skills
Experience working in a Work, Health & Safety role, with a strong focus on compliance
In-depth understanding of relevant legislations, standards, regulations, and accreditation requirements.
Strong administrative skills, including competent use of Microsoft Office and various IT systems and software’s.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, Ability to analyse complex data sets to identify patterns and implement evidence-based safety improvements.
Strong organisational, time-management and project management skills, with the ability to manage and implement multiple audits, assessments and safety activities and initiatives simultaneously.
High level of emotional intelligence to support employees dealing with WHS-related challenges. With excellent communication, interpersonal and relationship management skills, with the ability to engage, educate and provide advice and recommendations to all levels of staff.
A proactive approach with a strong attention to detail to maintain accurate records and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
