About the role
The Aboriginal Mental Health Clinician has an important role in the care, welfare and assistance of and\or Torres Strait Islander people primarily. The Clinician will work within the adult acute services team to ensure that Aboriginal and\or Torres Strait Islander consumers and their families receive a respectful and culturally responsive and appropriate service.
The Health Clinician will provide clinical support and interventions to the consumer and the family. They will assist with accessing other services relevant to the needs of the person being supported. The Aboriginal Mental Health Clinician will assist in the planning and implementation of any admission, treatment, case management, referral, discharge and follow up for Aboriginal people utilising mental health services. This is a non-clinical role in the clinical environment. This role will also undertake cultural education and development for all staff and students.
You will be based at Mental Health Drug & Alcohol Services (MHDA) – Bloomfield Campus adult acute services.
Amaroo is a 20 bed acute unit for short to medium term treatment and recovery for people experiencing mental health illnesses.The unit works within a framework of human-centred care that includes recovery-orientated practices, trauma informed care and recognising individual rights and responsibilities.
Adult Acute is a 16 bed acute unit for treatment and recovery for people with a mental illness. We work within a framework of human-centred care which includes recovery-oriented practice, trauma-informed care and recognising individual rights and responsibilities.
Mental Health Intensive Care Unit (MHICU) is an 8 bed unit and provides multidisciplinary assessment, primarily for adults who require involuntary short term inpatient treatment during an acute phase of mental illness or disorder.
