The opportunity The Avionics and Armament Engineering Team is one of five teams within the ACEA Product Support Team. The other teams are Logistics Support, Mechanical, Structural/ASI and System Level Services. Working together, these teams generate integrated logistic support for the Super Hornet and Growler fleets. As the Avionics and Armament Engineering Manager, you are part of the Product Support Team Leadership Team and ACEASP Extended Leadership Team. Reporting to the Product Support Manager day to day, you will be accountable for the effective and efficient delivery of Avionics and Armament engineering services. You will be supported in this role by the Work Management Team, your peer leaders, your team, the ACEA Chief Engineer, Deputy Chief Engineer, BDA Engineering Skill-Stream Leaders and the Sustainment Operations Engineering Manager. As an Engineering Manager within the BDA Sustainment Operations business you will lead, oversee and manage engineering and technical sustainment services for the ACEA platform. As a Multi-skilled Engineering Manager, you will work closely with both the ACEA Product Support and Change Managers to ensure delivery of effective ACEA Avionics and Armament Engineering services. This will include the development and retention of the required ACEA Avionics and Armament workforce to meet ACEA Program requirements; and selected internally funded activities required to grow the BDA Sustainment Operations business. In this role you will: Collaborate with ACEA Product Support Team multidisciplinary leaders and teams to generate Integrated Logistics and achieve effective aircraft fleet sustainment and modernisation outcomes. Support Project Managers, the Chief Engineer and Deputy Chief Engineer to ensure the engineering and technical support scope is delivered on time and within budget, with interdependency on quality outcomes. Collaborate with the Work Management Team to plan work, track critical progress, and understand broad enterprise priorities and in particular how these relate to the Avionics and Armament Engineering Team. Ensure effective deployment of engineering activities and resources. Liaise with BDA Engineering skill-stream leaders to ensure the engineering skills needed for the Program are being provided; and to maintain and grow the knowledge, skills and experience of the ACEA Avionics and Armament Engineering team. Track performance metrics and identify continuous improvement opportunities. Undertake team member performance management and development. To be considered for the role you will have: Minimum of 5 years' sustainment organisational experience working in a technical industry. Demonstrable understanding of core sustainment principles e.g., change management, baseline management, prioritisation, cost, schedule and asset management. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, and demonstrated ability to engage, influence and cooperate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. A ‘servant leader' mindset, with a genuine desire to work with people, collaborate with your peers and foster team personnel development. Preferred but not essential: Qualifications in Business or Engineering Management Leadership experience in a technical field. Experience with technical management of aerospace and / or Defence projects. Experience in an ASDEFCON contract environment.
