Why this role matters
The Karratha Women's Refuge operates within the Western Australian Division of The Salvation Army (TSA). The Salvation Army Karratha Women's Refuge is a refuge that provides short term crisis accommodation for women with or without children who are escaping Family & Domestic Violence and or other crises.
About the role
We are seeking a values-driven and proactive Family Support Worker. Reporting to the Team Leader/Manager, this is a casual role based in Karratha, WA. As part of the role, you will be required to work on a rotating roster, with current vacancies in our afternoon shifts from 2pm-10pm or Sleepover shifts (with the possibility to turn into active nights).
Salary and conditions are in accordance with the SCHADS award level 3.
You will successfully
* Provide clients accessing the services that are provided with a welcoming and responsive initial contact, and urgent and immediate needs are addressed.
* Consult with more senior worker/s appropriate preventative action is taken in relation to potential high-risk situations.
* Ensure effective relationships are established with clients that encourage self-determination and participation and support them to improve their situation.
* As directed, support is provided to clients to implement case plans in accordance with TSA case management models and standards of practice.
* Ensure clients are actively encouraged to engage in the implementation of case plans.
* Ensure clients are assisted to access support services.
* Ensure activities are monitored and clearly communicated to relevant staff for handover.
You will have
* Associate diploma with relevant experience; or relevant certificate with relevant experience, or experience attained through previous appointments, services and/or study of an equivalent level of expertise and/or experience to undertake the range of activities required.
* Relevant experience with family & domestic violence and homelessness.
* Current WA Drivers licence.
* Current First Aid Certificate with CPR.
* Working with Children’s Check.
