About the Role
The Electrical Engineer will play a pivotal role in supporting the engineering design for the development and execution of Iberdrola’s renewable energy portfolio, focusing mainly on Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) but also on onshore wind and photovoltaic systems. This role involves technical oversight of all renewable projects, with a strong focus on BESS projects from concept through commissioning, ensuring optimal performance, compliance with standards, and seamless integration with other renewable energy systems such as photovoltaic (PV) and wind. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in BESS, a deep understanding of power systems, and a track record of successful project delivery in the renewable energy sector. It is expected that there will be some travel to project sites in different States.
Key Responsibilities
1. Develop concept designs and specifications for BESS and other renewable projects, including electrical SLDs, cable schedules, layouts, and integration plans.
2. Conduct simulations, fault studies, load flow analyses, and performance assessments to ensure system reliability and efficiency.
3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate BESS with PV systems, wind turbines, and grid infrastructure.
4. Prepare and review technical documentation, including design reports, specifications, and test plans.
5. Develop specifications and contractual documents, including procurement and construction contracts and connection agreements.
6. Conduct technical reviews and approvals of vendor and contractor documentation.
7. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate electrical systems with other engineering disciplines.
8. Identify and mitigate technical risks throughout the project lifecycle.
9. Preparation, analysis, and completion of fault investigations on plant and component failures, including review and/or management of those conducted by external service providers.
10. Work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including design consultants, contractors, and regulatory bodies
11. Communicate technical findings, design changes, and project updates effectively to stakeholders.

About you
12. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related field.
13. Relevant experience in electrical generation assets or a related business. Previous renewables experience will be highly regarded.
14. Experience in reviewing and approving technical documentation
15. Strong knowledge of electrical design principles, power systems, and renewable energy technologies.
16. Proficient in using engineering software and tools.
17. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple technical tasks simultaneously.
18. Knowledge of regulatory frameworks and standards related to BESS.
