Role
The Project Manager sits within Regional Transport and is responsible for delivering assigned capital projects to a team and leading this team to exceed client and community requirements. The Project Manager ensures that the project team is provided with support from other functional teams within Capital Delivery or DTP.
Position Outcomes / Accountabilities
1. Effective Delivery of Projects– Has effectively delivered assigned projects, either individually or with the support of other project specialists, to ensure that budget, schedule, environmental, safety and quality outcomes are achieved in accordance with the DTP project lifecycle framework. Established strong relationships with suppliers have been developed to ensure the timely completion of commercial and project deliverables.
2. Stakeholder Management and Community Engagement– Effectively engaged with internal and external stakeholders and community using formal frameworks to ensure projects have been planned and managed to achieve technical requirements, minimising disruption during construction, and providing outcomes for community and Victorian Governments. Has actively engaged with key stakeholders and the community, enhancing the Division’s reputation.
3. Capability Development– Develops and implements capability programs to improve team ability provide more effective and consistent project management services.
4. Effective People Leadership– Has provided effective leadership, people management and support to their team, promoting public service values. Staff are engaged with high levels of cohesion and commitment and are delivering on the services required.
5. Promote and support safe, inclusive and flexible team operations.
Key Selection Criteria
To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will be skilled in developing team capabilities by providing coaching and learning opportunities and will excel in translating strategies into well-governed projects that achieve desired outcomes. They must possess strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, especially in situations where guidelines are unclear, and be adept at building partnerships with stakeholders by addressing their needs and ensuring alignment with their organizational context. Additionally, the candidate should have a deep understanding of engineering practices, applying specialist knowledge to shape outcomes, manage risks, and ensure compliance throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications and Experience
Mandatory
6. Relevant experience in the delivery of large transport projects
Desirable
7. Bachelor’s degree in engineering (civil)
8. Tertiary qualifications in project management
