UQ Art Museum Full-time (100%), continuous position Base salary will be in the range $91,658.60 - $98,330.37 17% Superannuation (HEW Level 6) Based at our St. Lucia Campus About This Opportunity This is an exciting opportunity to join the dynamic team at UQ Art Museum, driving the production and delivery of the annual creative program, including exhibitions, events, and special projects. Working closely with the museum team, this role will oversee the end-to-end coordination of exhibitions, ensuring high-quality outcomes, meeting key deadlines, and managing budgets effectively. With expertise in exhibition production across diverse formats—including AV, lighting, and digital platforms—you will manage casual staff, contractors, students, and technical operations to bring the museum’s creative vision to life. Additionally, you will oversee building operations and maintenance to ensure an optimal visitor experience. This role offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, with some out-of-hours work required. Key responsibilities include: Oversee the annual installation and deinstallation of exhibitions, events, and special projects, coordinating contractors, freight, AV, signage, lighting, builders, painting, electrical, signage and campus services. Work collaboratively with the UQ Art Museum team to ensure seamless delivery of exhibitions and events. Manage workflows, staffing, meetings, risk assessments, budgets, technical inventory, and reporting for exhibitions and special projects. Recruit, train, and mentor specialised installers, external contractors, and student interns. Develop and communicate exhibition layouts, installation plans, and production methods using up-to-date technology. Design and optimise museum spaces for exhibitions and public engagement, ensuring an engaging visitor experience. Oversee building and facilities maintenance, ensuring security, visitor access, and compliance with OH&S standards. Represent the Art Museum and engage with industry peers to foster new collaborations and partnerships. Class C Queensland Driver’s License and Elevating Work Platform Certificate (Class WE). Proven experience leading creative teams to deliver high-quality exhibitions in institutional settings. Exemplary project management skills with knowledge of relevant methodologies and frameworks. Expertise in visual design principles, spatial planning, and digital/multimedia production for galleries/museums. In-depth knowledge of art handling, installation, lighting, storage, and display to international museum standards. Strong proficiency in operating and troubleshooting complex AV equipment, including PC/MAC systems, data projectors, PA systems, and multimedia players. Strong organisational, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and lead collaborative teams.
