The Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Commercial Lawyer to provide legal advice and support in the Commercial Law Section within a Commonwealth Department’s Legal Division.
The Responsibilities
The key responsibilities will include:
* reviewing of, and advice on, RFT documents before they go to market;
* reviewing of, and advice on, addenda issued to the market during the RFT process;
* having the ability to work together with the Department’s procurement and probity specialists to ensure a streamlined approach to the procurement;
* review of, and advice on, high value or high-risk contracts;
* supporting contract negotiations, as required;
* providing advice on contractual disputes;
* reviewing, and drafting contract amendments; and
* assisting in template review and development, including for contracts, grants, whole of government agreements, international organisations or partner government agreements and internal approval documentation.
The successful candidate will also need to outstanding stakeholder engagement skills.
The Requirements
Experience working as a Commercial Lawyer with in-house Commonwealth government legal teams and having extensive experience advising on Commonwealth procurement, particularly relating to the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013 (Cth) would be highly regarded.
Legal qualifications, an NV1 clearance and a current practicing certificate is essential. The successful candidates also need to be willing to undergo any required additional employment suitability checks.
