About the Role We are looking for a dynamic and transformational senior leader to join the Service Delivery team at Melbourne Water. Reporting to the Executive General Manager Service Delivery, the Head of Western Treatment Plant & Sewer Transfer (WTP & ST) is accountable for the delivery, maintenance and operations of the sewerage treatment plant that processes 60% of greater Melbourne’s sewerage, the subsequent recycled water system and the wholesale sewer transfer network. Responsible for strategy and leadership of the WTP & ST teams ensuring optimisation of resources, operational reliability, protection of biodiversity and efficiency of delivery. Influencing across industry and regulators to ensure the best outcomes for Melbourne Water customers. Oversight of WTP & ST’s Emergency Response and Management Plans to meet legislative requirements. Responsible for achieving Service Delivery’s Productivity, Financial and Customer Service targets. Oversight of management systems (Quality, Environment, HACCP and Safety), ensuring compliance with EPA licence requirements. Standardisation and adoption of best in class contemporary and continuous improvement approaches, including the transformation to a more digital future. Highly desired if within an operational context. High energy to take action and drive business results, with the capability for strong on site presence across all sewerage sites and collaboration support across all Melbourne Water sites. You will have demonstrated experience as an active Leader to positively drive and inspire a diverse workforce. Extensive experience in risk management, environmental management, safety, emergency response, preparedness and recovery. You will have exceptional level communication, relationship management, negotiation and influencing skills. Demonstrated understanding of the regulatory and commercial aspects associated with wastewater treatment industry. Experience with management systems (Quality, Environment, HACCP and Safety). Digital innovation leadership experience. Melbourne Water are required to assess roles across Melbourne Water to determine what roles are critical under the Act. All employees working in a role deemed SOCI critical will require additional background checks via AusCheck. This role is deemed critical, and the preferred applicant will be asked to undertake an AusCheck.
