Job Description:
A leading role in Financial Control at Deakin University is available for an Assistant Accountant.
Key Responsibilities:
* Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the university's financial records by working closely with team members.
* Prepare reconciliations of general ledger accounts to ensure financial accuracy and compliance.
* Support end-of-year financial processes, including audits and financial statements preparation, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and university policies.
* Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure compliance with university policies and financial regulations and assist in implementing and monitoring internal controls to guarantee accurate financial reporting.
* Provide financial support and advice to various departments or project teams, responding to inquiries from internal and external stakeholders regarding financial matters.
Requirements:
* A degree in accounting, finance or a similar discipline, accompanied by relevant experience; or
* Extensive experience and specialist knowledge or broad knowledge in technical or administrative fields; or
* An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
* Strong knowledge of general ledger, basic accounting principles, and cash management.
