About the role
The position of Senior Clinical Assistant (Pharmacy) will:
1. Contribute to patient care by providing advanced clinical support pharmaceutical services delegated by, and under the supervision of a registered Pharmacist.
2. Undertake a range of activities to assist in the provision of an efficient and effective pharmacy service to the patients and families of Metro North Hospital and Health Service at Woodford Correctional Centre.
About you
This successful applicant will carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
3. Provide a defined range of clinical support tasks for patients relating to components of the medicines management cycle, in line with professional standards with appropriate training, supervision and competency assessments, under the delegation and guidance of a pharmacist.
4. Conduct inventory management including ordering, receiving, storage, distribution and stocktake of medicines under the delegation and guidance of the Pharmacy Assistant (Advanced).
5. Maintain accurate patient information by contacting Medicare Australia and Department of Veterans' Affairs as required for patients details and enter data into HBCIS and iPharmacy dispensing software.
6. Participate as a member of a multi-disciplinary team, in a clinical support capacity, under the direct supervision of a pharmacist conforming to current legislative and regulatory requirements.
7. Refer to and liaise with health care providers within the immediate team as well as community health providers such as community pharmacists, residential care facility staff and general practitioners, under the delegation of a pharmacist.
8. Lead and monitor quality improvement activities. This may include reviewing and updating work instructions, guidelines and procedures. Activities to monitor quality may include temperature monitoring of refrigerators, maintenance of cold chain for outgoing shipments and incoming deliveries of pharmaceuticals including clinical trial stock, inventory management, error recording and recording clinical and operational data. Provide support, mentoring and supervision to less experienced clinical assistants.
