About the role:
Our client is seeking a purchasing professional with strong sourcing abilities and proven knowledge within the construction industry. You will possess the confidence and ability to hit the ground running in a fast-paced environment. Key responsibilities include:
* Ordering materials for job sites and warehouse stock, ensuring all items are accurately inventoried and stored.
* Negotiate with suppliers to secure the best prices and quality, maintain current pricing sheets, and obtain competitive quotes from subcontractors.
* Manage incoming order requests, prepare purchase orders, and check/authorise invoices to ensure accurate pricing and facilitate credit claims.
* Oversee the receipt of deliveries, verify against packing slips, and take corrective actions for discrepancies, ensuring items are organised and stored properly.
* Review job costing spreadsheets to check allowances and alert management of any significant discrepancies before making purchasing decisions.
* Maintain a tidy warehouse, plan delivery logistics to facilitate smooth transitions to job sites and keep track of delivery schedules.
* Liaise with site supervisors to stay updated on job statuses, ensuring that all ordering and inventory decisions align with project needs.
