About The Role
Reporting to an Assistant Crown Solicitor and as part of the Native Title Claims and Agreements practice, your day to day will include:
* Litigation, mediation and negotiation related to applications filed in the Federal Court under the Native Title Act 1993.
* Court appearances, instructing Counsel, briefing expert witnesses and providing advice on native title claims, Future Act processes, extinguishment of native title and related compensation claims.
* Negotiating, drafting, reviewing and advising on complex agreements (such as ILUAs).
* Advising Government on policy risk.
* Supporting the leadership and management of the team as 2ic to the Assistant Crown Solicitor.
Skills/Experience
To be considered for this role you will have:
* 6+ years' PAE in native title litigation and/or analogous property, P&E or other related litigation.
* Experience in leading, mentoring and developing team members.
* The ability to travel from time to time for the role.
* A pragmatic, commercial approach to your legal work.
