GJ and TJ Dunbar t/a Coffee Town Cafe is seeking an enthusiastic Chef
Description of role
· Plan menus whilst considering budget constraints, ingredient availability, and dietary restrictions.
· Develop and test new recipes and create daily specials to keep the menu dynamic and appealing to our customers.
· Prepare and cook food according to established recipes and standards, including tasks such as chopping vegetables, marinating meats, and sauteing or grilling ingredients.
· Ensure consistency and quality in every dish served.
· Coordinate and oversee the activities of cooks, kitchen, and restaurant staff, providing support and assistance as needed.
· Provide training to new kitchen staff, showing cooking techniques and guiding them in the preparation and cooking of dishes.
· Train new kitchen staff in proper food handling techniques, safety procedures, and sanitation practices to ensure a safe and efficient kitchen environment.
· Continuously mentor and develop kitchen team members, fostering a collaborative and productive work atmosphere.
· Monitor inventory levels and order necessary materials to ensure the kitchen is well-stocked.
· Participate in the budgeting process by providing estimates of kitchen costs and contributing to cost-control strategies.
· Ensure that food quality and taste meet the highest standards, and dishes are served in a timely manner.
· Implement and enforce strict safety and sanitation standards in the kitchen to maintain a clean and safe working environment.
· Occasionally interact with customers to receive feedback, make improvements as needed, and ensure overall customer satisfaction.
· Stay updated with the latest industry trends, culinary techniques, and ingredient innovations to continually enhance the menu and kitchen operations.
Eligibility
· Certificate IV-level qualification or equivalent in the relevant field.
· Have at least two years of recent experience working professionally as a chef, indicating a solid foundation in culinary skills and practices.
· Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, kitchen equipment, and food safety standards.
· Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
· Creative and innovative mindset with the ability to develop new recipes.
· Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
· Perfectionism in sanitation and quality control
· Passion and pride for delighting people with food.
