Our client is seeking a skilled and experienced Database Administrator to join their dynamic team. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the efficient management and optimization of their critical databases that underpin their operations.
Technical Requirements
The primary duties will be:
1. Support Oracle database environments (8, 9,11G,12C R2, 19, 21) and MS SQL (2008-2022) in an operational environment.
2. Manage database system lifecycle: configuration, performance, availability, capacity, access and security.
3. This role will primarily have an Oracle and SQL DBA operational work focus as directed by the Team Lead.
4. Applies technical knowledge to root-cause analyse and resolves database problems effectively.
5. Monitors, analyses and reports service availability.
6. Develops and performs backup, archive and restore activities.
7. Manage the corporate database synchronisation and clustering services.
8. Manage the protection of corporate information against unauthorised use.
9. Monitors, audits and verifies software licensing to contractual compliance.
10. Initiates, plans, and manages system changes and minor upgrades;
11. Provides information to customers and stakeholders on updates, problems, or changes;
12. Undertakes regular system and database maintenance processes;
13. Maintains system configurations to corporate standards;
14. Maintain and test the system disaster recovery procedures;
15. Advises on design and performance tuning for application systems and projects;
16. Provides technical assistance and daily support to other Database Administrators in the team;
17. It would be desirable for you to be familiar with Quest Spotlight, FogLight, Toad (or similar), Shareplex;
Essential Criteria
18. Have 5+ years of experience and in-depth knowledge of administering Oracle and MS SQL in an operational environment.
19. Can prioritise work in a busy operational/project environment with competing demands.
20. Be able to solve daily issues, perform proactive management and take ownership of tasks.
21. Knowledge of Service Management/ ITIL
22. Demonstrated experience in providing support to end users, problem management, and configuration management in a SQL Server environment
Highly Desirable Criteria
23. Hands-on experience with Oracle Exadata or Oracle Exadata training;
