Rabobank's Australian Operations departments is a dynamic & integral part of our business, encompassing teams such as Payments, Settlements, Reconciliations, Regional Call Centre, Client Regulatory Reporting & Business Improvement.
The department handles the manual processing of payments & settlements totalling billions of dollars.
We are currently seeking a General Manager, Operations Australia to join our team in Sydney due to an internal movement.
This senior management role will collaborate closely with Rabobank Australia's Executive Team & the COO Domain's leadership team to support & achieve the bank's strategic & operational objectives.
You will have a working knowledge of payments & credit lending.
As the General Manager, Operations Australia, you will be designated as a Responsible Manager under RG146 & will hold delegated accountabilities under the FAR regime.
Key Role Accountabilities:
Strategy, Planning & Execution:
Oversee the Operations budget & allocate resources to ensure the COO Domain Performance Dashboard targets are met.
Develop & implement short, medium & long-term Operations strategies aligned with global & local requirements to best service the business in Australia.
Collaborate with product teams to define & deliver the payments strategic roadmap across all business lines.
Actively participate in global, regional & local meetings / conferences as required.
Customer Service:
Identify customer & business needs & develop appropriate operational solutions.
Establish & monitor SLAs, measuring service delivery against KPIs for stakeholders & customers (e.g.
Net Promoter Score).
Implement a waterfall/dashboard approach to ensure key operational requirements, risks & controls are identified, monitored & reported at all levels.
Governance, Control & Risk Management:
Partner with the Head of First Line Risk & Security, Operational Risk, Compliance & Internal Audit to ensure Operations has a robust operating control environment.
Champion risk awareness across all areas of Operations.
Manage the Business Continuity & critical process resilience requirements of Operations.
Prepare reports & papers for the Board, Committees, & Executives as required.
Leadership:
Lead the Operations team (approximately 100 direct & indirect reports), ensuring staff are well-equipped & trained.
Foster collaboration & alignment between departments to deliver high-quality service & outcomes to stakeholders.
Build on the talent management & resourcing strategies to meet team objectives.
Cultivate a culture of trust, open feedback, & inclusivity encouraging diverse thought & ongoing leadership development.
Operational Excellence & Innovation:
Reduce inefficiencies & rework by increasing knowledge through coaching.
Work with LEAN/Six Sigma SMEs to establish, maintain, & improve best practice processes, driving efficiencies & reporting on ROI quarterly.
Challenge the norm through continual reassessment of processes, create a culture of continuous improvement.
To be successful in the role, you will have:
15+ years' experience in banking & finance, with a strong focus on operations.
Proven experience in senior management positions including holding a Responsible Manager role under RG 146.
A track record in building & motivating customer focused teams.
Experience managing large teams of 50 or more people.
A solid understanding of payments & credit lending.
Excellent written, verbal communication & negotiation skills.
Strong interpersonal & stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate & influence at all levels, including Board, Executive, & Senior Management.
A deep understanding of risk management within the financial services industry & related regulatory standards (Basel, APRA & Reserve Bank of New Zealand Standards).
Strong commercial, business & strategic acumen.
