With the recent purchase of a 30% stake in the Alta Mesa Uranium Project in South Texas USA, Boss Energy has reaffirmed its vision to become a global uranium supplier.
About the Role The Environment & Radiation Technician will support the environment & radiation team in identifying, monitoring and managing environmental and radiological risks and ensuring compliance with regulations.
The technician will ensure that all environmental and radiation monitoring is completed as per the regulatory approved monitoring programs.
All non-compliances (i.e.
investigation levels, action levels, groundwater excursion control limits etc.)
must be raised immediately within the Environment & Radiation Superintendent and actions taken to mitigate the risks to ensure the protection of site personnel and the environment.
Provide professional expertise and training to all site personnel and contractors, in support of a safe, regulatory compliant and environmentally responsible mining operation.
The role will be FIFO from Adelaide charter terminal direct to the Honeymoon mine site on an 8:6 roster. Responsibilities: Identify, monitor and manage environmental risks – daily site inspections to identify hazards and incidents.
Assist with timely review and management of all environmental and radiation hazards and incidents.Conduct environmental and radiation audits and inspections to identify hazards, compliance issues, areas of improvement and recommended corrective actions.Assist with the implementation of environmental monitoring programs and environmental management plans.Conduct environmental sampling, monitoring and analysis, including groundwater, air, soil, waste and vegetation sampling.Maintenance, servicing, and installation of groundwater wells / pumps.Assist with radiation surveys, monitoring and sampling as per monitoring plans and programs.Assist with assessment of vegetation clearance permits.Assist with pest and weed surveys and management programs.Compile and manage environmental and radiation data, including data entry into the online database.Data review – quality assurance / quality control checks, identify and report any trends/anomalies immediately.Fauna management, including reptile relocations and animal welfare as required.Support the development and implementation of environmental and radiation training programs.Immediately raise and appropriately manage regulatory compliance breaches, leading indicator exceedances, action or investigation level breaches.Radiation safety officer (RSO) delegation when the statutory RSO is off site.Assist with site security and protection by means of regular site inspections and reporting non-compliances to the Production Manager.Review JSAs and issue radiation work permits (as required) to ensure that environmental risks are managed and that occupational radiation doses are as low as reasonably achievable and are compliant with requirements of the RMP/RWMP and legislation.Assist with the development and implementation of environmental management systems, including creation, review and updating of procedures, WIs, SWIs and forms.Provide input and advice to site personnel, meetings, projects, and initiatives as it relates to environmental and radiation management.Assist with other reporting, including data entry and compilation, as requested by E&R Superintendent.About You Australian Drivers LicenseTertiary qualification in Environmental Science or related fieldPrevious experience in environmental monitoring and management, preferably in the mining industryFamiliarity with environmental regulations and legislationExperience in radiation monitoring is highly regardedStrong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse and troubleshoot complex issuesExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environmentProficient in the use of environmental monitoring equipment and softwareWillingness to work in remote locations and to work flexible hours as neededWhat We Offer We take pride in fostering a supportive team environment that values collaboration and professional growth.
