Position : Information Governance Officer Location : Canberra, Goondiwindi, Griffith, Mildura, Murray Bridge, Albury/Wodonga Length : 12 months About the Role : The Information Governance Officer is an administrative support role within the ICT Service Delivery team, working closely with the Information Manager and collaborating with other areas of the business and various Australian Government agencies. This role is essential in providing guidance, support, and training on information management (IM) practices and policies, helping maintain compliance with legislative standards. Key Responsibilities : Oversee helpdesk services, offering advice, support, and training to staff on information management, governance policies, and procedures. Manage and update the Information and Records Management Team’s intranet pages and the ICT and Data Branch’s governance documentation. Contribute to the lifecycle management of electronic information held within business systems, in alignment with the National Archives of Australia’s guidelines and organisational policies. Assist with developing compliance requirements related to machine learning capabilities. Undertake information search and e-discovery processes as necessary. Provide Secretariat support to information governance working groups, including note-taking, agenda preparation, and other administrative duties. Key Requirements : Direct experience in information asset management, particularly with Microsoft 365, including Teams and SharePoint. Strong understanding of information management policies, including the Archives Act 1983, and Government procedures. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Previous experience providing Secretariat support, including taking meeting minutes and preparing agendas. Knowledge or demonstrated experience in supporting and building machine learning capabilities. Ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline Security Clearance. Australian Citizenship required. Desired Experience : Strong administrative experience with a focus on information management. Ability to support the growth of machine learning capabilities, particularly in the governance context. Familiarity with working in a small team and engaging with multiple stakeholders. APS5-level capabilities in governance and administrative support, with an eagerness to learn and grow within the business. Additional Information : This is a small team environment, so applicants should be comfortable working closely with others and managing a variety of tasks. The team is working to improve its capabilities in machine learning, so familiarity with or an interest in this area will be advantageous.
