Location: RockhamptonJob Type: Full-TimeSalary: Dependent on ExperienceReports To: Project ManagerAbout the Role:We are looking for a skilled and experienced Qualified Carpenter to join our team.Specialising in residential and modular construction, our projects predominantly involve steel frames, so experience with steel framing will be highly regarded but not essential.We want someone who takes pride in their work and enjoys working in a team environment to deliver high quality homes.
The role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of residential projects, including new & modular builds.Who Are We:modX is a leading construction company based in Rockhampton, Queensland, specializing in modular, portable, residential, and commercial construction solutions.
Established in May 2022, the company has quickly built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality, customisable buildings that emphasise innovation, efficiency, and sustainability.One of modX's notable projects is the Stanwell Power Station Outage Village, consisting of 23 modular buildings connected to essential utilities.
Completed in July 2023, this project provided a centralised location for multiple teams of specialists to collaborate on operational matters, showcasing modX's capability to handle large-scale, complex projects.Key Responsibilities:Read and interpret plans and specifications to determine material and construction requirements.Construct and install steel and timber frames, trusses, flooring, cladding, doors, windows, stairs, cabinetry, and other structural elements.Work with steel framing systems (experience highly regarded but not essential).Work collaboratively within a team and communicate effectively with colleagues, subcontractors, and site supervisors.Operate and maintain hand and power tools safely and professionally.Ensure all work is completed in accordance with Australian Building Standards (NCC) and local council regulations.Adhere to Work Health & Safety (WHS) guidelines to maintain a safe and efficient worksite.Skills & Qualifications:Certificate III in Carpentry (or equivalent qualification).Proven experience in residential construction including new builds.Experience with steel framing is highly regarded but not essential.A strong work ethic and commitment to quality workmanship.Ability to work well within a team environment.Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and building plans.Strong knowledge of frame construction, roofing, cladding, and finishing work.Excellent problem solving skills and attention to detail.Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.White Card (Construction Induction Card).Current driver's licence and reliable transport.Preferred but Not Essential:Experience in steel frame construction, roofing, cabinetry, or detailed finishing work.Knowledge of energy efficient building methods and modern materials.Additional licences or certifications, such as Working at Heights or First Aid.What We Offer:Competitive pay, inline with experience.A supportive and collaborative team environment.Opportunities for career growth and further training.A variety of projects, from custom home builds to modular housing.Steady residential projects with long-term job security.How to Apply:If you are a skilled carpenter who takes pride in your work and thrives in a team environment, we'd love to hear from you!How do your skills match this job?Your application will include the following questions:Do you have experience working on residential construction projects?Have you completed a qualification in carpentry?Have you worked in a role which requires a sound understanding of OH&S/WHS?Do you hold a Construction Induction Safety certificate (White Card)?Which of the following statements best describes your right to work in Australia?How many years' experience do you have as a Qualified Carpenter?What's your expected hourly rate?
